Whew, it's been a while since I've posted!  Here's the latest and greatest product that we've tried!

My 11 year old son is very, VERY smart. He also loves to do different types of puzzles... Case in point, when he tried out for the school talent show, he rode a unicycle while solving a Rubik's cube. He also has every other type of 'cube-like' device including triangles and gads of other stuff. He just really enjoys solving puzzles that challenge him.

I figured this Back-Spin puzzle would be interest to him since it's very different from what he's accustomed to. I was pleased to be right in this case because as soon as I gave it to him, he was off to the races. He quickly got the hang of it and started getting it as messed up as possible and then solving it. I asked him if it was 'too easy' and he said that it wasn't... that he actually had to think about it.

I'm not saying your kid has to be a genius to enjoy this device...I think anyone who enjoys puzzles will find this game to be unique and interesting!!!

Snacking For The Stars!

Payton has a pretty terrible lunch break... especially for a 1st grader.  They do not go to lunch until 1:20 in the afternoon.  Because of this, the kids are encouraged to bring a snack for mid-morning.

I really wanted to save money by not having to buy baggies, and save some room in a landfill at the same time!

I happened upon SnackCubby Reusable Snack Containers and I knew I had the right answer!

The flexible silicone is really nice and Payton was able to put more than enough snack into one of these tubes to satisfy her until lunch time!  We plan on using them over and over again and she's also excited about trying out the drink feature as well!

Mark Needed Some TLC!

Now that Mark's hunting season has FINALLY come to an end, I get my husband back... or so I thought.  Now he's preparing for the next hunt season... *sigh*

He's back out at our property in southern Ohio.  He is clearing out areas to plant 'feed plots' to encourage more deer to come to the property.  Mark is always thinking about the 'one that got away' that he named Walter.  Of course I wouldn't be a great wife if I didn't root for the other side to win, right?

Anyway... back to the point of this blog post!  He comes back to the house with his shoulders and back hurting and stiff from all the manual labor.  I feel bad for him so I take this new Shankara Muscle Release Massage Oil that I got to review and give him the mother of all fantastic wife back rubs!  Oh yeah, I totally did that!  Let's just say that shortly after I was finished, snoring commenced and it wasn't mine.  I rock!

I love this oil because it has great viscosity and allowed me to use a little amount (this stuff is expensive at $60/bottle) and rub his back for at least 30 minutes.  It has a decent smell, although it's not my favorite.  Overall, it's a great value!

Well, let's all hope that Walter continues to live an thrive and gives Mark the slip for the next season!

What Do You Wear When Swimming?

Ah ah ahhhh... I know exactly where your mind went!  Get it out of the gutter!  We're running a clean blog here.

So I got this great pair of swim goggles to review and I love them!  They are super comfortable, although they look a little dorky and cool at the same time.

Overall, I love to swim and I think they will be a great asset to have at my country property when swimming in the pond.  Perhaps the fish will be scared and swim away as fast as they can.  lol

I had the opportunity to review this Thermometer!  Fortunately, Payton was around to help me demonstrate.  I think she did an excellent job of faking sick too!

Shower Me With Gifts!

I'm so spoiled that I got to try another awesome product from RY!  This Garden Hose Nozzle goes quite well with the hose I received from them and this thing is AWESOME!!!  It has a quick snap / quick release (as my mom demonstrates below), great nozzle, etc.  We love the color, the quality materials, etc.   This is definitely a win!

Walk on the Wild Side! (Infuser Water Bottles)

Most people know that i'm relatively picky... I am trying to expand my horizons these days! I guess with all this product reviewing, it was bound to happen or I'd run out of products to review, right?

Today's post is about my Live Infinitely Infuser Water Bottle!!! My mom was a doll and did a video review for it and everything. Actually, it was more like a demonstration than a review!  Pardon the camera shaking toward the end. I was having a really tough time holding back laughter and eventually lost it!

I love that I have one of these now and I think it's a great way for me to get some more nutrients just by drinking naturally flavored water! Shape Magazine has 8 Infused Water Recipes that I highly suggest you try if you get one of these babies!

I Am a Lucky Girl!

One of the types of items there are no shortage of for reviews are beauty and facial care (anti-aging) products!  I seem to have those types of things coming out my ears at this point.  However, I did have a brand (Valentia) that really stood out to me!

I got to try their External Youth Exfoliating Scrub and their Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask!  Both were really great products and I can say with all honesty that I've never tried a product similar to the scrub before!

I tried to show the texture and consistency of them in the picture.  The scrub was almost jelly-like with tiny almost invisible exfoliating pieces.  The mask went on very smoothly and nicely!  Both of them had nice smells to them!

This was a fun and enjoyable product review!!!

Great Ergonomics = Less Chance of Carpal Tunnel!

One of the products that I was fortunate enough to review was CushionCare's Keyboard Wrist Rest and Mouse Wrist Rest!  This is actually my second time reviewing for them and I can honestly say that this one is worth the money!

I've been using my set for a couple weeks now and it still looks and feels brand new.  Kyle has had his for a couple days and seems to really enjoy it as well!  In fact, he helped me with pictures for the review.  (I really get a kick out of the kids helping with the reviews for products!  They really seem to enjoy being part of it.)

My Amazon Review says pretty much what I think of this product.  I love the company too and hope that they will have more products down the road that I'll be able to review for them!

Spring Can't Get Here Soon Enough!!!

So far we've had a relatively mild winter (although I hope for even less snow and cold weather).  That doesn't mean I can't look forward to spring...  Fortunately there are products out there to review that remind me that spring will be here eventually!

Here's one of my favorite products I've gotten to review so far.  It's a 50 foot expandable hose that came with an 8-function sprayer!  The hose is 4 layers (more than any competitor) and has metal attachments.  This sucker was made to last!

As you can tell, my mom really got into the photo shoot for this one!  Now if only this snow would melt so we can move on to preparing for warmer weather!

All in the Family!

Let's just say that reviewing is contagious! Everybody in the Butterfield house has to have a piece of the action (since they want the rewards of the items). I decided, why should I be the only one ponying up the reviews, they should help out!

Kyle is currently in Barcelona Soccer technical training and having a good water bottle is essential. Soccer players getting dehydrated is NOT a good thing! I elected to let him help me out with the SteadyDoggie Water Bottle review since I knew it would be good for him!

After giving him a few days to come up with a review on his own, I decided to have him provide me with a surprise video review.  No more pushing it off!  I think it turned out really cute!

As you can tell, this product was worth the video review (which was NOT required)!  We had fun and I hope you like!  I think he says it all!

Payton Is a Reviewer!!!

Payton was very excited when I told her that I was going to be getting a 1st Aid Kit as a product for review.  She adores band aids and the like.  She wanted to know immediately if it could be hers and that she wanted to do the review.  How could I possibly deny her sweet face?

Even though this particular review didn't require a video review, she was dying to do that too... So, we busted out the iPhone and let her rip!  She did it entirely off-the-cuff and all words and opinions were her own.  It was adorable and she did an excellent job, if I do say so myself!  Give it a look and let me know what you think!

I think she covered a lot of the special features of the 1st Aid Kit.  But, I want to put a disclosure that if you get bit by a poisonous snake, I'm not entirely certain that this bag will save you until the ambulance gets there.  Also, not entirely positive you can take it on the airplane with you... LOL

My Blog - Can I make it Big?

To be very honest, I began this blog with little to no preparation.  I sometimes have things I want to 'share with the world' (granted my world is quite small with regards to who actually sees it) but I didn't have a specific topic that I felt was so amazing that I could talk about it over and over and over again.

Along comes the reviewing situation and one of the sites I belong to requires that you have a blog.  So, now if I want to participate, I have to commit... Hrmmmm....  Can I just say that this is probably one of the best things that ever happened to me?

I don't actually mean the freebies I get from reviewing.  I used to love to write and always thought that one day I would be a writer.  Unfortunately, my big dreams were a big dud since I couldn't seem to hunker down and put words on pages.  I can't blame anyone but myself on that and take full responsibility.  But... I am very motivated by the word FREE!  So there begins my blog which has morphed from just being about budgeting to including things like product reviewing, and will soon cover a lot of other 'financial' topics as I think of them.  BUT, I am still having fun and I feel like writing these reviews, and this blog, has allowed me to let out my inner voice a little and I'm enjoying it very much!

Now that you have the background on why this blog really came about, I decided that I wanted people to actually read it!  It was more than a platform to receive goodies.  It was me genuinely wanting to share information that I've learned over time through the "School of Hard Knocks" and perhaps tips and tricks that others might not know.  You might know a large amount of what I share, but I hope you will glean something new every now and again.

In the spirit of wanting to succeed, I applied to review an audio book called "Brandon Colker's How To Make Big Bucks From Blogs".  Now, the reality is that I'm a little fish in an even smaller pond and my goal is actually not financially driven at all.  What I did want to learn was how to be a 'successful blogger' where people actually took the time (and had the desire) to read what I had to say.

I believe that Brandon did a solid job of laying out how to go about becoming a better blogger and hopefully increase my readership.  I actually downloaded the book the day that I was approved to review it.  I listened to it immediately and have really let my thoughts percolate while trying to figure out how to apply this to me.  The audio book was read quite well and wasn't a long-listen even.  It was like 60 minutes or so an I really appreciated Brandon's writing style.

I want to use some of the techniques he laid out but I don't read other people's blogs so finding someone in the same niche and then asking to write a guest blog would be difficult at best.  However, I'm not going to let myself get in the way so research is going to have to be front and center.  I also have a bit of ... let's call it lack of confidence... that anyone would want to read what I have to say.  What's so special about me?  Then I decided, why not me?  I do have some valuable information to share, I'm told I am fairly easy and entertaining to read, so I'm going to give it my best shot!

Thank you Mr. Colker for giving me some ideas of what I can do to make my blog successful! I really look forward to the journey ahead of me and hope that along the way, someone will want to read it!

Supplements? Yes, please!!!

I'm trying out some different supplements to see if they will help me to 'feel' better overall and treat my body more gently.   These Organic Coconut Oil soft gels are by MaxiZest and are pretty phenomenal!  I'm literally getting an energy boost from them and it's helping with my digestion and actually doing some appetite suppression too.  Who knew?
